I take the generic. Walgreen's occasionally has their generic version on sale and I can get 150 tablets for $30. Costco and Sam's Club probably have similar prices on their generic versions.

I can't take real Sudafed (pseudoephedrine). It makes me buzzy, and then after 4 hours I crash and fall asleep.

Singulair doesn't work for me either. I have to use a true antihistamine, not a leukotriene inhibitor. Totally different process.

I do best when I can take Allegra 180 in the morning and Zyrtec at night, but my current insurance doesn't pay for Rx and the Allegra is insanely expensive without insurance. Boo. I'm having to make do with the generic Sudafed PE

(Sorry for the late response; I was out of town this weekend.)JenBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02838413937781714488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6539871485789506642.post-74978310197452501712009-04-05T10:26:00.000-06:002009-04-05T10:26:00.000-06:00I do take the generic. You can get a bottle of the...I do take the generic. You can get a bottle of the generic at Costco for about 15.00 for 300 pills. It's harder for me since I take Zyrtec-D. I've found that it's not as effective to take the regular combined with a Sudafed, so I have to fork over the big bucks for the "D" variety, which sucks. And because you can only buy so much Sudafed at the pharmacy (the read kind, the PE doesn't work for me), I feel like a junkie, going from store to store, buying up all the Sudafed I'm allowed, LOL. Bob & Jeff take it regularly, too. I so wish they'd make it prescription again. That would make my life so much easier! Like I look like I'm making meth in my house. Really.Lorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08250972350798310498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6539871485789506642.post-28074875911429148432009-04-04T09:11:00.000-06:002009-04-04T09:11:00.000-06:00I take SingulairI knew I spelled it wrong. My mom said the Costco brand is a little cheaper.Caseehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03164959083643636736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6539871485789506642.post-77410551465384821152009-04-03T22:18:00.000-06:002009-04-03T22:18:00.000-06:00Like both of you, I do the allergy routine also. I...Like both of you, I do the allergy routine also. I take a Zyrtec D at night and then I follow up with a Sudafed in the morning (the real one that you have to sign for at the pharmacy, not the PE crap that Jen takes, LOL!). I'm also on Flonase. The Zyrtec doesn't make me drowsy at all. And Jen's right - it takes a while for it to build up in your system.

I take Singulair, too, but when I started on it, it was only prescribed for asthma. Now everyone takes it for allergies, too. Kills two birds with one stone, LOL.

What pisses me off, is that every time I get settled into a regimen, and stocked up with my insurance, they make my meds over-the-counter and I have to pay an arm and a leg for them or switch to a new med. It sucks!

And don't feel badly about the exercise. FCOL, you did a 1 hour spinning class. You're getting way more exercise than me!Lorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08250972350798310498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6539871485789506642.post-59476970148313054972009-04-03T08:58:00.000-06:002009-04-03T08:58:00.000-06:00Jen, does the Zyrtec make you drowsy? My doctor h...Jen, does the Zyrtec make you drowsy?

My doctor has me on Cingular (one at bedtime), Veramyst, and Zyrtec. Yesterday I was reading about side effects that Zyrtec had on people and got a little worried. You know the "only 5% of people experience this side effect"? Well, that's me. So I'm really concerned. I took a Zyrtec yesterday and thought it helped, but if it takes a couple weeks to build up, maybe it was just wishful thinking.

Have you ever gotten an allergy shot?Caseehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03164959083643636736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6539871485789506642.post-72928030340892590132009-04-03T08:52:00.000-06:002009-04-03T08:52:00.000-06:00I suck at fitness and weight loss (believe me, it ...I suck at fitness and weight loss (believe me, it shows), but I do have a ton of experience with allergies.

My magical allergy formula:

1 Zyrtec (or generic cetirizine) at bedtime
1 Sudafed PE Allergy Sinus (or generic equivalent...always in a green and white box) in the morning

On really bad days, I take the Sudafed again at lunch and at dinner. On really really bad days, I take a Children's Benadryl with my Zyrtec at bedtime.

It takes about two weeks for the Zyrtec to build up in the body, but you can do the lunch and dinner doses of Sudafed while you're waiting for the Zyrtec to build up to its full allergy-fighting powers.JenBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02838413937781714488noreply@blogger.com
